Background

The Alumni Association is the organisation for former students of the University. Everyone who studies here for one semester or more becomes a life member of the Association. All alumni who completed their studies prior to the establishment of the Alumni Association in March 2000 are already life members of the Alumni Association. At present the Alumni Association enjoys an active membership of over 35,000 alumni.

The Alumni Association provides a forum for Stirling alumni to maintain and reconnect their links with the University and with each other. Members receive two issues per year of our alumni publication Stirling Minds. The Association organises official events and reunions for alumni and helps you to organise events yourself. We hope that you will take advantage of a number of discounts and deals we have arranged on your behalf. Additionally, we encourage the establishment of departmental, regional and overseas groups, and seek to involve alumni more effectively in the current activities of the University.

How long has there been an Alumni Association?

The University Court established the University of Stirling Alumni Association on 12 March 2000. On that occasion the Court approved the new constitution of the Alumni Association which comprises Ordinance 59 of the University's Ordinances. However, the Alumni Association has a pre-history dating back to 1972 in the shape of the former University of Stirling Graduates' Association.

The Alumni Association Executive Committee

The work of the Alumni Relations & Development Manager is supported by an elected Alumni Association Executive Committee. The Executive Committee meets twice annually to discuss the business of the Association. It also provides representatives to sit on University Court and University Conference. The Executive Committee comprises a maximum of twelve members including a President and a Vice President with the Alumni Relations & Development Manager acting as ex officio Secretary to the Committee. Elections for the Executive Committee are held every three years and the current members are:
